- Add tri tip and all marinade items into a large bowl.let marinade at least 2-3hours..
- preheat oven to 425.
- take tri-tip out of marinade season well both sides of tri-tip with your rub mix..
- add cooking oil to a large enough oven safe pan that you can stick into oven once you sear your tri-tip. once your oil is hot add your tri-tip into the hot pan sear each side about 2minutes each. turn off add in 2-4 cups of marinade juice to pan, I didn't have a rack so I placed the sliced onions under tri-tip so it wouldn't over cook on bottom..
